According to the rules for this high acknowledgement, four series were nominated for the main award. So, first , in July 2022, the nomination was announced, for the category: exceptional achievement in the design of hairstyles from the epoque. The winning team was nominated along with three other series: Stranger things Pam& Tommy, The First Lady and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
– The series I worked on, Bridgerton, entered the second season due to its popularity – explains Lidija Škorućak: – It is interesting that the first season, with another designer, received the same Emmy last year. So, somehow, we did not even hope we would take this year’s prize.
The hair and makeup designer was the extremely talented Swedish designer Erika Okvist (50), who has been living in London for many years and has achieved many significant accolades so far. – She is also responsible for my first job that brought me to London (Mr Selfridge, 2015) and for the BAFTA-winning series Taboo, also for make-up (Tom Hardy, leading role). Six years since Taboo, Erika attempted so many times to get me on the team, but I was always someplace else, doing other jobs. I even designed a series in between that was also in the run, but not nominated, for the EMMY for make-up (Flack season 2). Now, luckily, it happened that I’m free… right at the end of the filming of The Witcher (we won the BAFTA award this year for make-up), so I’m very happy I joined Erika Okvist’s team again – says Lidia.
Actress whose hair/wig and make-up from the award-winning season 2 of Bridgertton, Lidia Skorucak is doing, is Ruth Gemmell who plays the role of Lady Bridgerton (she is with her in season 3 as well, which is currently being filmed) and Shelly Conn (played Mrs Sharma) as well as Mrs Varley (a maid in the Featheringtons’ house) and several other daily players, actors who have great supporting roles.
– I create the appearance of the wig/hairstyle myself within the initial idea of its look, which is established and agreed during the preparations, so now I’ve got complete artistic freedom in that sense – there is no reason to hide satisfaction, says modest by nature but not in business, Lidija. – Of course, each of her appearances is a bit different, more special, depending on the costume, hair ornaments, and then, considering the circumstances, occasions (appearance while at home, visits, balls, walks in nature, carriage rides…) that match the look, hairstyle…
The costumes are all handmade and it makes an exquisite experience to see them live, as Lidija notes, all those details superbly woven. Apart from the beautiful decor in the studio, the story is set on the locations such as heritage sights, all over England, parks and river banks, lakes, canals that add a special charm while working on the series which is set in the Regency period of 1813, she says.
– I am accepting this Emmy on behalf of my wonderful and fiercely talented team. And in homage of Mark Pilcher who first set this wonderful world of Bridgerton. I would like to thank everybody who ever believed in me. And everyone who didn’t as it ultimately put me here where I am today. I’m proud and humbled by this award. Thank you Emmys. Thank you my talented team, Bridgerton season 2. You are all winners – Erika Okvist said at the award ceremony, mentioning all the names in the team including our own Lidija Škorućak.

The 74th Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held on September 3rd and 4th at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, California, USA. The ceremony was broadcast in the United States on NBC, and was held on Monday to accommodate NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast (attention, media-sense solidarity). Nominations were announced on July 12th , 2022. The ceremony was produced by Done and Dusted and Hudlin Entertainment and directed by Hamish Hamilton.
